Our forum for registered managers offers attendees the chance to network and share best practice. The network has been running since 2015 and meetings are held every other month between 10am and 2pm, with a networking lunch included. The structure of the meetings and the topics covered are all manager-led and The Suffolk Brokerage supports the facilitation of the group.
Throughout 2015, 2016 and 2017 a selection of topics have been covered by guest speakers, including data protection, employment contracts, virtual dementia tour, speech and language therapy, wellbeing, reflective practice, effective supervision and The Care Act.
The network meetings aren’t only about guest speakers, it is also a great opportunity to share good practice with in the group and to discuss issues that may benefit from wider discussion. The meetings are informal and friendly and are held in a supportive environment.

Joy Andrews from The Dell Residential Care Home in Lowestoft has been a Registered Manager for 11 years. She joined the Registered Managers' Network last year after moving to Suffolk from Shropshire. She says she finds the meetings friendly, supportive and informative.
She said: "I always leave with some new form of knowledge, whether it's about new legislation, changes to the sector, how to access cheaper training, or tips on how other Registered Managers are doing the job. For example, we had a talk from a provider who received an Outstanding CQC rating. There was a suggestion about keeping a file of good practice and achievements; I have put that into practice here.
"I find the sessions really enjoyable; in fact, I've started putting down things I want to discuss at the next meeting. You can speak with confidence about any issues you have, for example how you have put things right, and know that you will be heard in a supportive and totally confidential environment. It's good team building exercise for managers and makes you feel you are not alone.
"Because The Suffolk Brokerage invites speakers along to the meetings, we are always asked what topics we'd like to hear about, which makes it tailored to our needs. I always look forward to getting the next meeting date in my diary."
